Gemma Rocyn Jones

Gemma Rocyn JonesGemma is a Senior Associate advising on social finance.

Gemma is working on the Young Foundation's work on Catalyst, a consortium of four organisations working with the Department for Education (DfE) as the strategic partner for young people, as part of the Department's wider transition programme for the sector. Catalyst will work to deliver three key objectives over a two year period. It will strengthen the youth sector market, equip the sector to work in partnership with Government and coordinate a skills development strategy for the youth sector's workforce. As part of this, Gemma is developing an education campaign to raise awareness of social investment across the youth sector and delivering an investment readiness programme to support organisations accessing finance.

After studying French and Maths at King's College London, Gemma joined the investment bank Dresdner Kleinwort Wasserstein where she qualified as a chartered accountant before moving into corporate finance at Keefe, Bruyette & Woods. Prior to joining the Young Foundation, Gemma spent time with the Self-Employed Women's Association in India, where she advised on the expansion of their microfinance activities and on the design of a green energy bond to finance the delivery of solar lights and safe cookstoves to 200,000 families in rural India. She also worked with CARE International on their online peer-to-peer lending initiative, Lendwithcare. Gemma recently completed a MSc in Population and Development at the London School of Economics and is an active school governor, chairing the governing body of a newly converted community primary academy in Waterloo.
