Carmel O'Sullivan

Carmel is a Research Associate and works across a number of research projects in the Young Foundation's communities practice.

Prior to joining the Young Foundation, Carmel worked for a third sector consultancy where her role involved providing guidance and support to start-up social enterprises and charities wishing to diversify their income and activities, as well as undertaking research for public sector bodies.

Carmel has also worked for ICAR (Information Centre for Refugees and Asylum Seekers) where she researched the situation of refugees and asylum seekers in Newcastle and the challenges and barriers faced by disabled refugees and asylum seekers in London. In addition, she has also spent time working with indigenous tribes in India and has worked in the refugee sector in Ireland.

Carmel has an undergraduate degree in sociology and politics from Trinity College Dublin and a masters degree in sociology from the University of Cambridge
