Dalwardin Babu

Dal joined the Metropolitan Police Service in July 1983, since then he has been posted to various boroughs and units including Haringey, Islington, Redbridge, New Scotland Yard, District Support Unit, a six month secondment to Zimbabwe, Hendon Police College, House of Commons, Camden as an Inspector for five years, Enfield, Commission for Racial Equality, Tower Hamlets and Central Operations.

Dal became a Trustee in January 2008.

Dal is currently based in Harrow and was recently promoted to the rank of Chief Superintendent.  Dal was awarded an OBE in 2010.

During his 25-year career Dal has performed a combination of Operational, Community, Strategic , Public Order and Partnership roles.

In Camden, during the 1990s, Dal carried out groundbreaking work in reducing youth disorder and conflict around Kings Cross and Euston which involved working with Muslim and white youths by taking groups of young people to Northern Ireland and examining conflict resolution between Republicans and Loyalists. He continues to be involved with a number of Charities and Projects focused on young people and social cohesion.

Dal was a founding member of The National Association of Muslim Police and was elected as the organisations first President. The Organisation has over 1000 members across England, Scotland and Wales. Dal has a Master of Science Degree in Race and Ethnic Relations from London University.

Dal is a keen cyclist and runner using pedal power daily, to and from work. He enjoys spending as much time as possible with his two daughters. He has an allotment and enjoys cultivating and eating fresh organic vegetables.
