About time too? Critical changes in the field of young people’s resilience

Monday, 30 January 2012 12:30 - 13:30

A lunchtime seminar with Professor Angie Hart and Kim Aumann

Recent years have seen major shifts towards both user-involved service development and co-production, with some success. In relation to resilience research, tens of thousands of socially excluded young people and their families have been the ‘subjects‘ of a range of research projects into how best to utilise these communal and participatory approaches. However, despite this vast body of research, little has changed for many young people on the ground.

The work of Professor Angie Hart of the University of Brighton and Boingboing social enterprise and Kim Aumann, also from Boingboing, attempts to overcome this problem, by including young people and parents, alongside practitioners, policy makers and academics as co-developers of both resilience theory and practice. In the lunchtime seminar on Monday 30th January, Professor Hart and Kim Aumann will describe and discuss their unique approach to building young people's resilience, before a short Q&A session.

This event will take place in the Michael Young room at the Young Foundation. Please RSVP to events@youngfoundation.org by 27 January 2012.
