Education Reform: reflections from the front line

Monday, 28 November 2011 13:30 - 14:30

What do we want to achieve by sending our children to school? Looking at the current education system, a cynic might conclude that the answer to that question is the ability to regurgitate a list of facts with little relevance to work, society or life; and a limited set of academic study skills. However, a growing collective of charities and social enterprises and education foundations are calling for reform of the British education system - creating opportunities for students to build practical and transferable skills, see the relevance of their learning, and develop character traits like creativity, resilience and social intelligence.

For 3 years, Young Foundation investee Enabling Enterprise has helped teachers go beyond 'chalk and talk' to give holistic and effective lessons. At this seminar, Enabling Enterprise's founder, Tom Ravenscroft, shares his insights on changing the system - from the inside out.

The event will be held in the Michael Young Room at the Young Foundation - to RSVP please reply to events@youngfoundation.org or call Sara Shahvisi on 020 8709 92 68.
