Conservative Party praise for Launchpad Investee

Addressing the Conservative Party conference on Monday, Lord David Freud committed the Conservative party to learning from the success of social enterprise Working Rite ‐ ʺInspired by the successful Working Rite model, we will match up 100,000 teenagers with sole traders to get 6 months’ real work experience. Your first boss ‐ one of the most important people in so many of our livesʺ

Working Rite sets unemployed teenagers up with 6 months’ work experience with self‐employed tradesmen and has successfully spun out 9 projects across England and Scotland over the past five years, helping over 600 youngsters into a work mentoring placement. Based on the premise that everyone remembers their first boss, Working Rite has had considerable success – 75% of the young people who take part go on to further employment or training.

Working Rite has received support from the Young Foundation’s Learning Launchpad, our fund in partnership with Edge that invests in innovative organisations that work with young people to help them realise their potential.
