Justice Committee's First Report
The Justice Committee has released its first report on Cutting crime: the case for justice reinvestment. The report contains many recommendations pertaining to and influenced by the Young Foundation's research, including the recommendations that we made in our Escape from the Titanic paper in 2008.
In 2008, the Young Foundation argued that:
- there is a need to establish an institution, or another mechanism, to assess and report on the effectiveness of criminal justice interventions (in much the same way that NICE does in healthcare)
- the need to link the planning and allocation of resources within the criminal justice system to the management and flow of relevant resources outside that system, principally at the local level
