Public services and civil society working together - an initial think piece

On 19 November 2009, the Young Foundation published Public services and civil society working together - an initial think piece. This commissioned work for the Cabinet Office Public Services Unit explores the evidence for individuals, local community groups and social enterprises working alongside local public agencies to deliver better outcomes - like better pupil attainment, healthier communities or safer streets. It identifies the current barriers to such work and the most promising areas for government action - amongst them community dividends, community entrepreneurs, 'use it or lose it' asset sharing and community experience teams made up of retired nurses and head teachers.

The Young Foundation is interested to know what you think! If you have any comments on the analysis or a social innovation which would work well to build the capacity of civil society, please contact Vicki Savage - vicki.savage@youngfoundation.org or call 020 8980 6263.

The Young Foundation will collate any feedback and share it with the Cabinet Office.
