Apprenticeship Pathfinder Project launch
Apprenticeship Pathfinder Project launched in House of Lords
Thursday 9th July, 7pm
The formal launch of the Apprenticeship Pathfinder Project took place in the House of Lords.
The Apprenticeship Pathfinder Project is funded by the National Apprenticeship Service and is part of the Local Wellbeing Project, developed by the Young Foundation, Professor Lord Richard Layard from the LSE's Centre for Economic Performance and the LGA's Improvement and Development Agency (IDeA) . The Project involves three partner local authorities - Manchester, Hertfordshire and South Tyneside.
This ground-breaking new initiative is working with our three Pathfinder authorities to accelerate progress towards:
• Making Apprenticeships a mainstream learning route for young people aged 14-19,
• Preparing for the entitlement to an Apprenticeship place for suitably qualified young people by 2013, and
• Achieving the target that 1 in 5 young people are engaged in Apprenticeships within the next decade.
The launch event was an opportunity to learn more about the project, the wider policy context, and the vision for Apprenticeships in our three Pathfinder authorities.
