Pioneering classes promote pupil wellbeing
The UK Resilience Programme (UKRP) is being delivered by specially trained teachers to 2,000 pupils from 22 schools across Hertfordshire, Manchester and South Tyneside as part of the Local Wellbeing Project's work on improving emotional resilience amongst 11-13 year olds.
A new report examines the early findings from a three year evaluation of the impact of the programme on student wellbeing. Preliminary findings are promising and suggest that the UKRP has had a positive impact on pupils’ depression and anxiety symptoms where the UKRP and control groups were comparable. The longer term impact on student wellbeing will be monitored over three years.

The evaluation is being carried out by LSE and supported by DCSF.
