Report on Britain's UnMet Needs
Report on Britain's unmet needs
In July the Young Foundation launched a report into Britain’s social needs. The report looks at who are most in need in Britain today; what are the emerging needs and which groups are falling through the cracks. The project was undertaken to inform the work of the Commission on Unclaimed Assets and highlights the victims of globalisation, the rising importance of psychological needs and the continuing problems of young people making the transition to adulthood.
A seminar at the Paul Hamlyn Foundation in late June initiated the discussion about the next steps. We also received confirmation of funding from the Carnegie UK Trust for a short but very intensive project aimed at mapping Britain and Ireland’s rural unmet social needs. The project draws on existing work completed as part of the original Mapping Britain’s Needs Project as well as on fresh expertise from partners in academia, local authorities and Carnegie UK
The report informed "A Social Investment Bank" - a consultation paper by the Commission on Unclaimed Assets.
