John Thackara

John Thackara, www.thackara.com, is director of Doors of Perception.

This small production company organises festivals and projects, in Europe and India, in which grassroots innovators work with designers to imagine sustainable futures - and take practical steps to realize them.  Johns most recent book is In the bubble: designing in a complex world.

He was programme programme director of the Designs of the time (Dott 07) in North East England and is now senior advisor on sustainability to the Design Council.

He is also commissioner of City Eco Lab at St Etienne, in the Rhone Alps region of France.
