The Tällberg Forum 2006

The Young Foundation organised a design workshop for the recent Tällberg Forum in Sweden, an annual event which brings together international decision makers to talk about the impact of global trends. Every year 400 leaders and their families from all over the world and from various sectors of society gather in the small Swedish village of Tällberg to talk about and reflect upon the challenges and opportunities that stem from global interdependence.

This year’s Forum focused on the increased urgency brought to the question “How on earth can we live together?” by the challenge of reconciling the need for economic growth, with limited energy resources and the fragilities of the environment, while at the same time serving and advancing democracy, the rule of law and human rights.

Our workshop explored the impact of globalization on north east London. Dal Babu, a superintendent from Tower Hamlets police, Jude Simmons Head of Community Work at Community Links in Newham, and Professor Michael Keith from Goldsmiths College who also chairs the Thames Gateway London Partnership, all gave presentations based on their own experiences of living and working in the area.
