YF Participation in CRE Race Convention 2006
The Young Foundation was a partner of the Race Convention 2006 on the 27th and 28th of November 2006, with speakers including Geoff Mulgan, Rushanara Ali and Alessandra Buonfino.
In 2006 the Commission for Racial Equality - established by the 1976 Race Relations Act to lead the fight against discrimination and to promote good race relations - celebrated its 30th anniversary. To mark the occasion, the CRE convened a race convention, the first its kind in the UK. It was be a landmark event with up-to-the minute debate to set the agenda for race relations and social equality in 21st century Britain.
The event featured a number of sessions involving world leaders in the fields of politics, economics, human rights, local government, arts, culture and media. More information can be found in the brochure.

Migration, extermism, interaction and participation are crucial topics for community relations today. Led by researchers from the Young Foundation, IPPR, SHM Limited and the Black Training and Enterprise Group, delegates heard first hand about the outcome of on-the-ground research, with the opportunity to ask questions and take away fresh ideas to help inform their own work.

Krishnana Guru-Murphy, from Channel 4 News, was moderator.
