Internships: How to Apply
Our previous interns have had a broad range of academic and professional experience and we encourage applications from graduates from any personal, academic or professional background.
What we look for
We look for self-starters with great analytical and communication skills who are passionate about solving social problems. You don't have to have worked in the non-profit sector before but we do look for evidence that you have a sustained interest in social innovation - through volunteering, political campaigning or entrepreneurial activities, for example.
How we select
Following a short online application form, we invite around 50 applicants to a selection workshop held at the Young Foundation's offices in Bethnal Green. The workshop lasts for 3 - 4 hours and involves an introduction to the Young Foundation, a short interview, a group exercise and a chance to meet current interns.
We aim to select successful candidates within a week of the selection workshop and a half-day induction follows within a further week.
When we recruit
The Young Foundation recruits interns for three month internships in quarterly waves, generally:
- January to March (Winter wave)
- April to June (Spring wave)
- July to September (Summer wave)
- October to December (Autumn wave)
