Social Value Commissioning Project
Pan-Regional SHA Social Value Commissioning Project
'Social value' is the added benefit to local communities that the NHS can bring through actions that promote employment, training, use of NHS premises, local procurement, working better with and through the third sector, civic leadership, and community cohesion.
This project has explored the thinking, tools and techniques of social value across health, social care and 3rd sector organisations in eight pilot areas. It has developed a toolkit that was used and tested by the pilot sites and a 'best practice' project evaluation report has been produced. Its recommendations support the public sector to commission and procure services more effectively and for the providers of services to deliver innovative services with 'added social value' that meets the needs of our communities. Copies of the report, the toolkit, additional material and the presentations from the conference can be found here.
