The Young Foundation - a centre for social innovation

Introduction

Our Research and International team combines ethnographic methods and social analysis with research on the dynamics of social innovation and changing needs. The team's work has focused on five key themes: Social Needs; Justice; Belonging and Identity; Civic and Political Engagement; and Advancing Innovation. The team also provides research and development support to shape new projects and organisations being developed through Launchpad - the ventures arm of the Young Foundation.

Current projects include a major exercise to map Britain's unmet needs; research on effective ways of reducing reoffending and innovating within the criminal justice system; and developing a 'How to' for Social Innovation.

We work locally around our base in east London, nationally and also internationally - particularly through hosting the Social Innovation Exchange which organizes events, a website and a fast-moving programme to develop more effective methods for innovating solutions to social problems. We also manage the Young Foundation's external relations and communications activities.
