Thinking about Apprenticeships (July 2009)
The research report entitled Thinking about Apprenticeships explores the perceptions of Apprenticeships amongst young people, parents and employers in three Pathfinder authorities.
The Apprenticeship Pathfinder Project funded by the National Apprenticeship Service, is one of the strands of the Local Wellbeing Project. It is a ground-breaking new initiative working with Hertfordshire, Manchester and South Tyneside local authorities to accelerate progress towards:
· Making Apprenticeships a mainstream learning route for young people aged 16-18,
· Preparing for the entitlement to an Apprenticeship place for suitably qualified young people by 2013, and
· Achieving the target that 1 in 5 young people are engaged in Apprenticeships within the next decade.
