Transforming Neighbourhoods: local work
Learning from what is happening on the ground in communities was an integral part of the Transforming Neighbourhoods programme.
Between April 2005 and March 2006 the Young Foundation worked with 15 different local authorities on a series of projects exploring the challenges, opportunities and obstacles to effective neighbourhood working in different places.
This work falls into four main themes:
1. Defining the local authority’s offer to neighbourhoods
2. The role of the frontline councillor
3. Embedding community engagement and involvement in local decision-making
4. Developing and implementing new structures for empowering communities
