UpRisers advise Prime Minister on knife crime
UpRisers Zarlasht Halaimzai and Sarah-Jane Nii-Adjei took part in an event with the Prime Minister to discuss what action should be taken to tackle the problem of knife crime.
The event marked the launch of the "No To Knives" coalition, which includes Richard Taylor, father of murdered school boy Damilola Taylor, and Brooke Kinsella, the actress who lost her brother to knife violence. The coalition will campaign to encourage young people not to carry knives. The UpRisers took part in a roundtable discussion about the issue and their views, suggestions and ideas will be fed onto the steering group for the campaign. Also taking part in the discussion were Joshua Adejokun, the Young Mayor of Newham, and AJ Nakasila, a young filmmaker.
A video of the event is available here and photos are available here.
