Chair, The Young Foundation; Demos; UK Skills Federation

Julie Mellor is chair of The Young Foundation, as well as chair of Demos, Britains’ leading cross party think tank, and chair of the UK Skills Federation, the employer voice on skills. She is also a trustee for Involve, the participation organisation.

From 2012-17 Julie was chair of the Parliamentary and Health Service Ombudsman, which deals with complaints about public services and supports the Parliamentary Public Administration and Constitutional Affairs Committee in holding government to account for good administration.

Following a career in business, she became chair of the Equal Opportunities Commission from 1999-2005, and then a partner at PwC. She has served as a non-executive board member at Nesta, the national innovation body; the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills; the Commission for Racial Equality; the National Consumer Council; and the Employers Forum on Disability.
