About this Event

Join The Young Foundation CEO Helen Goulden and author Dr. Lise Butler for the launch of her new book, Michael Young, Social Science and the British Left. The online event will celebrate the book launch with special guests (to be announced) sparking a lively discussion on the emotional drivers of political behaviour, the social sciences – and their inclusion in political discourse (both on left and right), and the role of knowledge and evidence in shaping public purpose in society. Michael Young (1915-2002), is recognised as one of the world’s most creative and influential social innovators and visionaries. The Young Foundation, which was founded in 2005 out of Young’s think tank and social research organisation, the Institute for Community Studies. In her book, Dr. Butler uses Young’s life and work to examine the relationship between social science and public policy in left-wing politics between the end of the Second World War and the end of the first Wilson government. We hope you can join us to examine the relevance of Young’s work today.
