10 June 2026
12:00pm - 1:00pm

This webinar builds on our work with and for the National Civic Impact Accelerator (NCIA) programme, offering the chance for university staff to hear community and student perspectives on civic engagement, as well as university perspective on how to do it well.

The discussion will explore what meaningful and impactful engagement looks like for students and communities – and ask: how can universities ensure student-community engagement is meaningful and impactful?

This event will include a panel debate and Q&A session, chaired by our Senior Researcher Lily Owens-Crossman. The panel includes diverse voices representing students, community groups, university staff, and civic universities.

  • Sarah Gifford, Civic Engagement Lead, Queen Mary University of London – on designing and delivering civic engagement within a university context
  • Lucy Thomas, Creative Programme Manager, Arts Network – bringing a community partner perspective through the Undisciplined Spaces case study
  • Caitlin Hill, former University of Manchester student – reflecting on the Ladybarn Community Curry Night case study

University civic staff and those connected to the civic university network are warmly invited to join.
