Safeguarding policy
The Young Foundation is a not-for-profit innovation and research organisation, working with communities, organisations and policymakers. We support locallyled action, building knowledge around the issues people tell us they care about. We work collaboratively to improve lives and address shared challenges, driving social change for stronger communities and a fairer future.
In the course of our work, we undertake research and innovation activities with community members both in-person and online. These include (but are not limited to) interviews, focus groups and workshops, surveys, and gathering written, photographic and video content.
The purpose of this policy is:
- to protect children and young people who participate in activities organised by The Young Foundation from harm.
- to protect vulnerable adults who participate in activities organised by The Young Foundation from harm.
- to ensure that all staff and volunteers are familiar with a definition of safeguarding, understand their responsibilities in recognising and minimising the risk of abuse or other harm.
- to ensure staff and volunteers are aware of the appropriate recording, reporting and information retention procedures for safeguarding issues.
- to support staff in following the appropriate recording, reporting and information retention procedures for incidences of harm occurring during project delivery which fall outside the scope of safeguarding.
