Gitanjali spends half of her time working as part of the research team at the Young Foundation and the other half running Shadow Heroes, an organisation which runs series of creative workshops using translation as a means of teaching critical thinking skills to secondary school students.
She graduated in Spanish and Portuguese from Oxford University and has an MA in Social Anthropology from SOAS, University of London. She has worked on a range of social research projects in both the UK and Brazil, including studies on the language of Rio de Janeiro’s favelas, and the emergence of favela community museums, which won the Jon M Tolman award at the BRASA XIV Congress.
Gitanjali has a passion for ethnographic and participatory research methods and is skilled in producing a range of creative research outputs, including film and radio.
