Beth is the Director of the Urban Institute and Professor at the University of Sheffield. She is passionate about addressing spatial injustice and has carried out most of her research in the North of England, in collaboration with urban researchers around the world, particularly in Europe and Africa. This has included a programme of action research projects, carried out with citizens, activists, policy-makers and social entrepreneurs, to try and realise more just cities in Greater Manchester and Sheffield. She currently co-leads the Co-Pro Futures Inquiry with Profs Catherine Durose and Liz Richardson which aims to support better conditions for participatory research in UK universities. She co-hosts the podcast Urban Radar, which analyses the urban dimensions of current affairs.
