Public services and civil society working together

The Young Foundation has published a new report Public Services and Civil Society working together: promising ideas for effective local partnerships.

The report gives anecdotal and empirical evidence to suggest outcomes are improved when public services and civil society work hand in hand, and develops five new ways to do just that - from community entrepreneurs to asset sharing, new performance measures to community dividends.

The report, commissioned by the Cabinet Office and backed by Chief Secretary to the Treasury Liam Byrne MP, was launched today in the Guardian Society. The government has already committed to acting on the ideas to improve the relationship between civil society and the state, in both the budget (page 105) and the Smarter Government action plan - Putting the Frontline First.
