Charities and non-profit organisations working with young people through sport, movement, or outdoor learning can apply for a new £15,200 funding and development opportunity, as UK Youth – working in partnership with The Young Foundation and Sport England – launches the Active Futures Cohort.

Spanning nine months, the programme combines in-person, online and self-directed learning, with participants working alongside young people and peers across England to co-design inclusive, community-rooted ideas that promote equity and wellbeing through physical activity. At its heart, the programme is about reimagining how movement is integrated into everyday life, and building inclusive, sustainable practices that help young people move more, feel better, and connect more deeply with their communities.

Thora Eberts, Head of Network Delivery at UK Youth, says:

We believe every young person deserves the opportunity to enjoy equitable, joyful physical activity as a regular part of their lives. The Cohort will be a truly a unique space for practitioners to come together, share what works, and explore how to scale those opportunities for greater impact. We’re proud to partner with The Young Foundation and grateful to Sport England for their support in making this vital work possible.”

Daniel Farag, Director of Innovation and Practice at The Young Foundation, adds:

We’re thrilled to join forces with UK Youth to support the most innovative organisations transforming young lives, and enhance access to physical literacy and activity across the UK. Together, we’re championing the visionaries who dare to think big, push boundaries, and create opportunities that inspire young people to discover their potential through meaningful physical activity experiences. We are excited by the potential to continue to grow the movement of change in how we connect, engage, and elevate the next generation.”

Applications are now closed. Find out more via the UK Youth website.
