Civic Scholar

Anna brings more than 20 years’ experience of working in the community-led housing sector (CLH) personally and professionally. After self-building her own eco home from 2002-2006 as part of a community-led project in Bristol, she collaborated in setting up a number of businesses and initiatives to promote collective self-build, community-led housing and sustainable construction.

Based at the University of the West of England in Bristol, her PhD research explores and reinterprets the concepts of ‘community’ and ‘benefit’ within the context of community-led housing. She hopes a better understanding of the different groups of people that contribute towards the design, delivery and long-term running of CLH projects, and the benefits that these individuals and groups gain through their participation, will assist in future policymaking decisions, grant funding guidelines, and practical implementation of CLH projects.
