In 2022, the Heritage Fund launched an ambitious programme to help organisations across the heritage sector to tackle long-standing and urgent challenges for the workforce. These challenges included a lack of workforce diversity, limited volunteer capacity, use of new and emerging technologies, and much more.
Recognising that in order to tackle these challenges in the long term, organisations would need time, space, resources and the right support, the Heritage Fund created the Heritage Innovation Fund. This pilot funding programme has been delivered in three phases, with distinct criteria and guidelines, and a parallel cohort learning programme delivered by The Young Foundation.
For four years, a cohort of 13 organisations have been exploring, testing and growing new approaches for the heritage workforce. Now, they reflect on the highs, lows, and lessons of this work.
Join this free, online webinar to:
- hear about the solutions they have been developing and how they might link with your efforts and concerns
- reflect on innovation practice in the heritage sector – the opportunities and demands it presents and how to address them
- consider what this might mean for future innovation activity and how stakeholders in the sector might drive positive change.
This event is aimed at anyone with an interest in heritage workforce challenges and learning from innovation practice. The session will include:
- a provocation from Steve Daniels of the Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust
- short introductions to the nature of the work by members of the cohort
- a panel discussion with members of the cohort, the Heritage Fund, and The Young Foundation
- a Q&A session
A recording of this webinar will be available following the event.
