This seminar will explore collaboration, trust and community participation in place-based research.

Understanding a place properly is impossible without the input of communities to go deeper than the statistics. Community leaders and volunteers may be able to connect professional researchers with those less heard. Yet local volunteers and activists often already give a lot of their time freely. How do we make sure that taking part in research is rewarding, in all senses of the term? The seminar will consider how to involve communities in place-based research effectively.

The panel includes:
  • Jack Layton, Place Research and Impact Manager from The Young Foundation
  • Leonie Taylor, Senior Researcher from The Young Foundation
  • Chloe Juliette, Research Manager of the Learning from Big Local project at Local Trust
  • Sally Lloyd-Evans and Sonia Duval with the Whitley Researchers, based at the University of Reading

The seminar is open to researchers across universities, the third sector, place-based researchers and funders.

This free event will take place online. We will send the Zoom meeting link to all attendees who register via Eventbrite.
