Fairness Taskforce
Leading Luton is a place-based community leadership programme. Through practical and collaborative working, participants are reimagining and redefining local leadership for social justice.
Creating the force for change
Funded by the National Lottery Community Fund, we are working in partnership with Luton Borough Council, Bedfordshire and Luton Community Foundation (BLCF) and the University of Bedfordshire to further develop the Fairness Taskforce.
This is a cross-sector and community-centred network, working to identify and overcome structural barriers on a range of social, economic, and environmental challenges.
NCLF is providing funding to support Luton, along with six other areas, to shape and influence how partnership working can take place across the UK.
Learning and leadership
The Young Foundation is the lead partner on two core parts of this work:
Learning
The taskforce is informed by local people’s lived experiences, coming together to explore what needs to change, and working collaboratively to make that change. The principles of shared learning and evaluation are hardwired into the process, applied across places, sectors and silos.
The Young Foundation is focused on impact and process, gathering insights and sharing what is changing and how that change is happening nationally.
Leadership
Leading Luton is a practical learning journey to reimagine and redefine community leadership for social justice in Luton. It centres around peer connection, exploration and inquiry, systems thinking, and collaboration.
Get involved
As part of Luton Borough Council’s ground breaking Fairness Taskforce, and thanks to funding from the National Lottery Community Fund, we are working with local organisations on an action learning programme that will help re-imagine and redefine community leadership and social justice in Luton.
Our first cohort of Leading Luton is now underway with 20 inspiring leaders. Applications to join the next cohort are due to open in September 2025
