NCIA core value framework

Our Community Advisory Panel offers guidance on how CiviCon25 conference could be designed and delivered to reflect a more inclusive approach.

The Community Advisory Panel’s value statements:

  1. Diversity and reciprocity: recognise diverse perspectives and value the different forms of intelligence found across all living species, moving beyond one-sided relationships to develop mutually beneficial partnerships.
  2. Knowledge equity: appreciate and equally value diverse ways of knowing beyond traditional academic models, ensuring community expertise is recognised and integrated.
  3. Youth and intergenerational leadership: prioritise young people as valued partners and current and future leaders while supporting representation across all age groups.
  4. Care and commitment: build sustained commitments of care in developing and maintaining partnerships with community organisations, moving beyond project-based engagement.
  5. Accessibility and inclusion: create accessible spaces and interaction methods that accommodate diverse needs, backgrounds, and ways of participating in civic work.
  6. Power redistribution: proactively shift power from universities to community partners, ensuring meaningful decision-making authority and leadership opportunities for community organisations.
