This is the fourth in a series of short discussion papers produced by the Institute for Community Studies at The Young Foundation, to share learnings and reflections from the UKRI-funded Citizen Science Collaboration Grants.

This paper draws on the UKRI Citizen Science Collaboration Grants (CSCG) programme to explore ‘readiness’ for community participation in the UK academic sector’s research activities, and among research funders. It builds on increased activity in community participation and participatory research across sectors and spaces posing four key components of ‘participation readiness’: experiences, ethics, relationships and impact.
